How to: Snow Bases
I've come across quite a few people up to the challange of snow bases, yet it never comes out right, so i've devised my own way to bring tundra to a base.
First step is to treat it like a normal base, by applying a stoney layer, and painting it. I used Citidel sand then painted it codex grey, highlighted with a drybrush of bleached bone then skull white. Otherwise the look is unnatural.
Seccondly, the snow flock can be applied. the trick to this is to build up the layers in a natural way, otherwise the snow looks like a white smear of... well you know.

Painting time?
The ogres have decended down the mountain and ended up on my table. Well not really they came from my local store for a price of 72 New Zealand dollars, dam thats all i say. So i've allready assembled them and they stand for painting. I was going to spray-gun a 'Scorched Brown' undercoat then build up the skin with 'Tanned Flesh' to 'Dwarf Flesh' then to 'Elf Flesh,' progressively building up the highlight. The armor will be rusted with a good addition of verdigris for detail.
So how do you paint your ogres? please leave a comment below as i would love to hear about your style.
The Mighty 'Frostbiters'
My 'Ogre' army is a self created tribe, the brain chlid of glen and I after a browse of the Army Book. So heres the back story:
The 'Frostbiters' are a tribe of skilled hunters, inhabitants of a frosty mountain called 'maws horn', in the ancient giant lands. Every tribe member dons a full black arm tattoo. A tradition set down to honor their first tryant, "thor-gore icehand"who foolishly tryed to pry a large and sharpe tooth out of a sleeping Thundertusk. with a great blast of icy breath thor-gore's hand blackned in a cold snap.
Before his blood froze still, he managed to curl his massive hand into a club sized fist. With this he bashed the thundertusks eyes into a pulp of jelly and puss. The killing blow came then he pushed his stone cold hand into its eye socket and riped out a peice of its rocky skull. Since that day his hand was forever black with frostbite, and his tribe tattoo this onto their own arms. The black arms are seen as a sigh of strength.
This tribe design from the Army Book was my inspiration.
Stay tuned for pics of my painting, and i say this with no ego , i am good one with a brush.
